The Lucky One

Ever since SHINE, director Scott Hicks has been comfortable with the complicated and highly charged emotions of personal relationships, but in his new film THE LUCKY ONE, Hicks steps outside his comfort zone a little directing, of all things, a combat sequence with an equally unlikely solider in Zac Efron!

Adapted from the novel of Nicholas Sparks, one of the most successful authors of romantic dramas, the film intersects the crossroads of fate and faith after a solider finds a photograph in the rubble of Afghanistan where one man died and another escaped.

Watch Scott describe the "Sparks protocol" for shooting film which includes lots of golden hues, backlit sunsets and beautiful people! Listen to him describe the dedication that Zac Efron took into his role as a US Marine.

Then hear Zac himself admit he wasn't certain he was ready to play a combat veteran but decided that with Scott at the helm, it was time to man-up!

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

The premise for SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN is as preposterous as the title, and it was designed that way. This is an absurd British comedy in that great understated, sarcastic style we love to appreciate form a distance. Plus it stars two of the most delightful and watchable stars in Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt.

Watch Emily describe the progression of Ewan's character according to the 'hair', from an uptight bureaucrat to a slightly freer one as he unwinds a little, and Andrew Warne betray a lifetime of jealousy of the Scot's 'perfect' hair.

Listen to Ewan reveal the clash of cultures across the great fishing divide and how, while he became quite good at casting he'd much prefer tearing around on his dirt bike.

Then finally allow Emily to enchant you with the beauty of a story that aims to accomplish the impossible and the magnificent human connections that may eventually arise.
