Carnage
In the shadow of THE SLAP this movie might resonate a little more with Australian audiences, but regardless, CARNAGE is supreme entertainment.
Adapted from the Broadway play GOD OF CARNAGE and directed by Roman Polanski, this movie bristles with cracking one-liners and incredibly uncomfortable exchanges. I found myself literally squealing with excitement at the dialogue.
Listen to John C. Reilly explain how the movie has compressed this gathering of parents into one night of unbelievable verbal spats as the layers of the onion are slowly peeled away, and PC pretension yields to raw, basic, human ugliness.
Watch Christoph Waltz describe the sting of the whip-smart script and how he likes to reach the breaking point of behaviour, that crack "where the light gets in!"
Rarely have four riveting characters been thrown into such an intense and compelling arena, none to emerge unscathed and undamaged. It's really quite breathtaking to watch.
